On the anniversary of the Lilly Ledbetter Act, President Barack Obama has issued some executive orders, in lieu of the Paycheck Fairness Act. The Lilly Ledbetter act was in response to a 2007 Supreme Court decision ruled against Lilly Ledbetter, who at the time was suing Goodyear Tire over pay discrimination. The court ruled that her lawsuit was beyond the statute of limitations because the suit must begin 180 days after the first offense (paycheck that a person thinks is too low) is given out. The Lilly Ledbetter act, signed in 2009 by Barack Obama, makes it so that 180 day period is reset after every check given.
That act was a series of measures to alleviate what Obama, and many other liberals, label as the “wage gap.” This is the belief that women get paid 79 cents to every dollar a man makes, and that women get paid less because of sexism. They also say that women always get paid less for the same work. Which, on it’s face does not make sense. If women get paid less than men for the same work, then why are there any fields that are male-dominated? Mostly every field should be dominated by women, since women would be able to do the same job, with the same skill level, interest level, for less money.
It’s just another lie that Obama and his liberal and neoconservative cronies like to push. Women and men are different, that’s why there is a gap in pay. And the pay gap is overall pay in general. it does not take into account specific careers and specific jobs with the exact same level of skill, education, salary negotiation, interest level, and time invested into the job. Men generally take more dangerous jobs, work longer hours, do jobs that require math skills which pay more than jobs women generally take. Mostly all registered nurses, HR professionals, and elementary school teachers are women. Obama surely knows these things, but the general public does not, so he can continue to expand government power through executive action without much pushback.
