There are quite a few news topics to discuss tonight. First, we have the Fake News Awards for the most outrageous news stories of 2017. This was the highly-anticipated list of awards that were announced recently by Donald Trump on his Twitter page. Many thought it would be televised, but instead it was written as a list with examples and graphics on the GOP’s website.
Another wave of so-called women’s marches has happened all across the nation. While these “marches” are branded as being “pro-women’s issues” … they quickly devolve into a gigantic Trump-and-conservative-bashing fest.
#ReleaseTheMemo was trending on Twitter for quite a while earlier in the week, as many Republican members of the House have been talking about a memo that reveals names and personal information about individuals who have been colluding to disrupt the Trump presidency. A vote was had in the House to make it available to everyone in the House. All Democrats voted against the bill which ultimately passed. Now an effort is underway to get the bill out to the general public.
The Government of the United States has shut down after Democrats and Republicans could not reach a temporary Government spending bill. Democrats wanted to fix the DACA issue immediately to protect the so-called “dreamers” while Republicans wanted to deal with the issue separately. A lot of finger-pointing is going on, but it ultimately lies at the feet of Democrats who refuse to press forward without a DACA fix.
